Donutgate: Inside the Controversy
In case you missed it, Ariana Grande was filmed licking–and then eating–a donut that wasn’t vegan.
Licking controversy aside, it’s a shame that Grande, who has claimed to be a vegan for more than a year now, is eating non-vegan food.
There’s no question that vegan celebrities help the movement. When big names talk about issues, people listen. It’s exciting when a star promotes veganism because it has the potential to reach millions of people.

Originally claimed as vegan, 22 Days Nutrition is now being referred to as just “plant-based.” Sigh.
Make The Commitment
These celebrities need to get their act together. Of course we want them to continue defending animal rights and not eating animal products, but veganism already has a bad rap in today’s society. We need people to stand by what they claim to believe in, not provide ammunition to attack vegans.
People who go against the norm and don’t consume animal products already face incredible scrutiny. The animals need voices, big and small, to defend them and spread the message!
How do you spread the vegan message? Do you think Grande’s actions will hurt the movement? Let us know in the comments below!
