College is a perfect time to go vegan. You are more free than ever before to do your own research and form your own opinions. You finally have the opportunity to act on what you believe and to be your true self.
It will always be annoying to deal with criticism from people who do not understand veganism, and finding vegan options in college dining halls is not always easy. But, it is so worth it. By eating and living in a way that reflects your love for yourself, animals and the planet, you will be happy and you will find people who truly respect you and who might even share your passions.
Emily Horowitz, a student at Ithaca College in New York, decided to try out veganism her freshman year. She is now a senior majoring in environmental science and she is the president of Ithaca College Animal Rights. In this interview she discusses the ins and outs of being a vegan college kid.
