Munk Pack, like chipmunk? Oh my gosh, I love it! I was given the opportunity to sample three different flavors of Munk Pack Oatmeal Fruit Squeeze pouches. The pouches come in Apple Quinoa Cinnamon, Blueberry Acai Flax, Raspberry Coconut, Peach Chia Vanilla and Maple Pear Quinoa.
Delicious and Nutritious
They taste like your mama’s oatmeal with a yummy kick. I was worried cold oatmeal was going to be gross, but it was seriously delicious and flavored with real fruit. I would have gluttonously eaten more than a pack in one sitting, but with 3 grams of fiber, 420 milligrams of omega-3, and 2 grams of protein per pouch, your body feels satisfied. That’s a lot of nutrition packed into only 90 calories per pouch (90-110 calories depending on which flavor you choose). I felt satiated and energized for a good three or four hours.
What more could a vegan ask for? But wait, there’s more — this product ticks off all the big ones: non-GMO, whole grain, gluten free, vegan and packaged in a BPA-free disposable pouch. Although not specifically advertised, from what I gather from the ingredients list, this product is also nut free. The product is also certified Kosher by the Orthodox Union.
Eco-Friendly
Munk Pack Oatmeal Fruit Squeeze caps and boxes are made from recycled paper (for pouches sold in a 6-pack). The pouches themselves are recyclable through the Zero Waste Platform. These oatmeal squeezes aren’t hurting anything or anybody!
Great For on the Go and Camping
I have to say, these aren’t just for vegans. This product is incredibly transportable as it is a meal (or snack) contained in a pouch requiring no refrigeration, heating, mixing or utensils. You can eat them with one hand (or hands-free if that’s your predilection). You can throw a pouch in your backpack for a hike, in your laptop bag for a quick snack or breakfast on the bus or in your office, or my new favorite use for them: my kid.
Great for Toddlers and Kids
After taking a few gulps (a few bites? I’m not really sure how to quantify it) of the Blueberry Acai Flax flavor, I offered the pouch to my one year old. He instinctively sucked out a mouthful and I kid you not, looked at me and said, “mmm.” I squealed in delight mostly because it was adorable, but also because it’s a wonderful healthful energy food that he can feed to himself with no mess! Angels sang and I wrote down, “more oatmeal squeeze pouches!” on my grocery list.
Affordable
If you’ve every shopped for healthy food on the go or specifically for nutrition-dense hiking food, you will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable these packs are. At a little more than $2 a pack, this product is quite reasonably priced.
The only objectionable thing I can think to report, if it is indeed a bad thing, is that I sort of felt like a toddler sucking on a pouch and I didn’t want anyone to see me doing it. But if you go to Munk Pack’s website, you’ll see a bunch of attractive young adults in the wilderness enjoying these pouches So, you will suddenly feel cooler than cool for having just consumed one too!
