Bad Ass Organics (BAO) Food and Drink attracted me to their products just by their name alone. It doesn’t hurt that their signature kombucha, cultured vegetables, sauces and shots are non-dairy, gluten-free, sugar free and GMO-free. Add a couple tablespoons of these condiments to any meal or sneak a spoonful alone! Another fun fact: in Chinese, BAO means “precious treasure.” Their products definitely tasted like treasure to me.
BAO’s signature product is their fresh kombucha which comes in a variety of flavors. I was able to sample the Original, Mango and Hibiscus. Bad Ass Organics uses old style fermentation to make a healthy low-sugar drink that is brimming with probiotics. All three tasted sparkling, unique and tart, with an hint of sweetness aftertaste. They gave me an amazing energy boost to my day.
Raw Extreme Shots
The next BAO products I sampled, raw extreme shots, are also made from the ancient tradition of lacto-fermentation. This is great for the gut to help strengthen not only your digestive system, but also your immune system. They taste great! I sampled the Deep Purple, which has 35 mg of caffeine from organic green tea organic elderberry and organic licorice root. It gave me a boost of energy in the afternoon for a workout. I also sampled the Green, which has 35 mg of caffeine from organic green tea, organic chlorella and organic spirulina algae. My favorite was the Hot Shot, which has 35 mg of caffeine from organic green tea as well as spice and antioxidant properties of chili peppers. I am a huge fan of spicy flavors.
Bad Ass Organics has seven flavors of cultured vegetables including: Giardiniera, Green Slaw, Spicy Slaw, Tangy Slaw, Red Beets, and Pickles, Sour Pickle Relish and a mixed option. I sampled the Green Slaw — kale, collard greens, dandelion greens, radish leaves, apples, pears, ginger, garlic, spices and sea salt (all organic!). You cannot go wrong with this; it is raw, vegan, organic, fermented and full of gut-healing lactobacillus. It is tart, briny, live and healthy!
I experienced five of BAO’s cultured sauces. The BAO-b-que was tart, with a bit of spice and brine. The Sour K’chup is also tart, with some sweetness and brine. The hot sauces are TO DIE FOR! I was able to sample the Original Hot Sauce and the Mango Hot Sauce. They were SPICY. Both left enough fire aftermath in my mouth which is just how I like it. I highly recommend them if you are into spice. All of BAO’s cultured sauces are made with the 7000-year-old method of lacto-fermentation. All BAO sauces are certified organic and free of GMOs, preservatives, stabilizers and sugars.
Probiotic means “for life.” This is what BAO Food and Drink wants to give their customers. I believe them. I am in love with their products. They have a customer in me.
