Dolcedì’s is a new, all-natural liquid sweetener from Rigoni di Asiago that’s made from 100 percent organic apples, is a low-glycemic* alternative to sugar, honey and other sweeteners. Oh, did I mention it is vegan? I was excited to try it for a couple of reasons. The artificial sweetener I use in my tea leaves an aftertaste, and the Agave Nectar that I tend to use in almost everything else is worse than sugar. It is basically High Fructose Corn Syrup, the only thing that saves it is it is mainly fructose, and low in glucose. So I was indeed anxious to try Dolcedì’s sweetener.
Don’t be Afraid of Replacing your Favorite Sweetener
I first tasted Dolcedì’s directly from the squeeze bottle. It has a slightly thick syrupy texture and a touch of apple taste. I then put it in my morning jasmine tea, just a teaspoon full. It gave just the right amount of sweetness and there was not a bit of the aftertaste that the Stevia had left. Throughout the next month, I became bolder with the Dolcedì sweetener. I used it to sweeten iced tea, I drizzled it on top of homemade vegan pot pies. I made vegan pancakes with it AND used it as syrup for the pancakes. I also made a few batches of vegan oatmeal raison cookies with Dolcedì’s sweetener. Due to the texture of Dolcedì the cookies came out more moist than usual and were amazing. With 25 percent fewer calories than table sugar and higher sweetening power (you just need ½ tsp vs. 1 tsp granulated sugar), it is easy to calculate and convert one of your favorite recipes. I had so much fun using Dolcedì that I will not be going back to those other sweeteners.
